Career Transition Program for Workers of the Sex Industry
The Career Transition for Sex Worker Program is funded by Qld Health. It is a career transition and employment training program for Queensland sex workers who wish to leave the industry or are in danger of entering or re-entering the industry.
Through a mix of case management, training and employment activities the aim is to assist participants in finding alternative employment and/or further education and training opportunities. The program for participants is voluntary and gives one to one and group assistance based on participant needs. Training includes the key elements of job search training and competency based modules with national accreditation that serve to build and improve participant job search techniques and employability skills. Key components of the program include a training needs analysis, life skills, self-analysis and goal setting.
Where barriers such as physical or mental health issues present, clients/participants are referred to the appropriate agencies or health care professionals for further support and may include counselling, medical or educational.
Post-placement support is a major element of the program as it serves to provide support and encouragement to clients in the early stages of employment.
The Career Transition for Sex Workers Program is a supported program that seeks to provide training and support services in an environment that provides maximum assistance for clients who wish to leave the industry and pursue alternative employment opportunities.
