VET in Prisons
BSIL Southern Edge (BSILSE) VET in Prisons program is a joint initiative between the Qld Department of Corrective Services and Department of Employment and Training. We are currently implementing the program in fourteen (14) correctional centres across Qld. The program aim is to provide accredited training to inmates of each centre with a particular focus on literacy and numeracy training.
Training currently being conducted includes:
- Numeracy and Literacy
- Hospitality
- Information Technology
- Laundry Operations
Qualified and experienced trainers are inducted into working within each correctional centre. Prior to delivering the training each trainer must agree to and undertake a security check that will enable them to work within a correctional environment.
