Youth at risk Access and Intervention Program

The project aim is to work collaboratively with secondary schools in providing support services through the provision of accredited training and employment services for school students (between the age of 14 – 17) who are at risk of disengaging from school.

BSILSE’s objective has been to establish a partnership with secondary schools that assist in building career opportunities for students through the collaborative development and delivery of the following four (4) key elements:

  1. Personal and Skills Development Planning (Also includes establishment of mentoring and support processes)
  2. Work Readiness Training (accredited)
  3. Specialist Skills Development (accredited training linking to career objectives)
  4. Job Search Training
  5. A learning plan is developed for each individual and it is then tailored to their needs.

On completion of the program the aim is for students to be equipped with the skills to assist them  into higher learning within the school system or provide for a school based apprenticeship or traineeship, commencement of an external traineeship or apprenticeship, sustainable full-time  employment  or part-time employment while continuing at school.

Successful outcomes are underpinned by effective consultation with social justice and vocational staff, guidance officers and other stakeholders within the school system.
